Styling Wide Leg Jeans
Wide leg jeans are here to stay at least for a while and they are so chic! While I’m sure I’ll never stop wearing my skinny jeans because I still love them, I enjoy mixing things up a bit.
Summer is a great time to experiment with different styles to find what looks best on you! I’ve purchased several different styles lately…from cropped off-white denim to these full length (at least on me) light wash, distressed, high-waisted ones.
What I’ve found since the high waist trend started is that I prefer a shorter top that hits just at the waistband. I think it gives a streamlined look that keeps me from looking chopped in half. Alternately, if my top is a bit longer, I’ll do a half or side tuck in front. If' you’re short waisted like I am, tucking in a fitted shirt is not flattering at all. If you’re taller, tucking a shirt or blouse into your jeans is something you can experiment with, but be careful not to have too much volume on the top since you already have added volume on the bottom. Wide-leg jeans can be intimidating if you're not used to wearing them already, which is why the high rise is important. It hugs you in all the right places and creates a flattering overall silhouette.
As for shoes, again, play around and see what works for you. In these pictures, I’m wearing flats which is something that rarely happens, but they just worked. You can wear many different heel heights and styles with wide leg jeans. Anything goes really…from chunky sneakers to espadrilles to pointed toe pumps. Try on a variety of styles and decide which one looks best with the overall aesthetic of your outfit. Clearly the sneakers are the most casual option while the pumps can be a great option.to dress things up a bit. Platform espadrilles are always in style and a comfortable option.
I’m including a boutique below of wide leg jeans as well as tops and shoes that would look great with them! Happy Shopping!
Have a great weekend!
