Faux Leather + This & That for Late October

Good Morning! I’m sitting in a hotel room in Hilton Head South Carolina as I’m writing. Baldy and I came down for my nephews wedding this weekend and it’s been a fun and busy time. We had planned to travel from here to Kiawah Island and stay at The Sanctuary to celebrate our 29th anniversary…but something happened. We decided that we need to go and get Amos instead. We boarded him for the first time ever (he became part of our family in April) and started worrying the minute we dropped him off. You see, Amos is like a person in our home. We bought a crate when we first got him, but it’s long since been put away. He roams the house and has no limitations, except for the living room sofa, but I’ve put towels on that sofa…just in case. He’s the best guard dog, he’s snuggly and sweet and we just love him so much! I’m worried that he’s sad and that his personality will change because of it, so we’re headed home. Looks like from now on, Amos will be going with us, or we’ll have to find someone to come and stay with him. I honestly never knew I could love a dog this much. You may think I’m crazy, but I’m so relieved and don’t think we would have had a good time because of worrying about Amos anyway. We’ll be leaving shortly and we’ll go straight to get him. We’ll celebrate tomorrow night with Thai take-out and snuggles on the sofa watching Emily In Paris.

I cannot believe it’s already the last week of November! The crazy holiday season is upon us and I’m excited about what I’ve planned for Crazy Blonde Life. My witch post last week seemed to be a hit with my blog readers, but boy did it cause some controversy on Instagram. I had people telling me that it was dangerous to look into witchcraft and that I needed to read the Bible. Well…clearly those people don’t know anything about me. The post was meant to be a fun post for Halloween. It was inspired by a beautiful image of someone dressed as a witch on Instagram and I wanted to recreate it in my own way. We have a huge wooded lot next to our home, and I knew it would be the perfect spooky forest. My friend Sara-Anne Caudle took the pictures and then went out to lunch!

Anyway, back to the Instagram controversy. I believe you see what you want to see. There are bad people who identify with witchcraft, but there are also women who really are just celebrating the feminine, goddess side that is in every woman, going back to a time when women were more connected to Mother Earth. I don’t believe that having a strong faith in a higher power means that you can’t be interested in witchcraft. Clearly modern day witchcraft has evolved, but even after doing some research, I don’t know enough about it to argue my point in a very educated way. I say, let’s all celebrate our inner goddess and spread love and light! If you see evil around you, that’s what you get…if you see love around you, that’s also what you get. In other words,…change your perception and change your life! Ok, that’s my rant about Instagram!

I’ve always loved Halloween maybe in part because I love fall and really have a thing for miniature candy bars and M&M’s. When my daughters were younger, I went all out with the decorations and we always went Trick-or-treating around the neighborhood. We have some very fun memories of times with friends walking around from door to door. One year, my daughter Sarah, who was maybe 4 at the time, was dressed like a banana and wandered off with another group of kids. I looked up and saw a sea on costumes but no banana! We finally found her, but that was one frightening evening.

Halloween I’m sure, just as everything in 2020, will look a little different this year. We’ll definitely pile Graham and Hudson in a wagon and walk around the neighborhood to friends homes, but I doubt we’ll have as many trick-or-treaters ring our doorbell. Who will eat all of those miniature candy bars…?

You may be wondering when I’m going to tell you about my cute faux leather top…it’s the star of this outfit and it came from Target’s Who What Wear collection. It is absolutely perfect for a warm fall day, and we seem to be having plenty of those. I paired it with dark wash skinny jeans, black suede booties and a black bag…after all, it is Halloween this weekend!

I don’t have time to do a full-on This & That post this morning, but I can share just a few things that are on my radar right now…

Did you know that Cameron Diaz has a new brand of wine called Avaline? It’s a clean, vegan, organic with created along with Katherine Power of Who What Wear. They released a rosé in July and their red wine hits shelves on October 27. You can read more here.

You will really enjoy this tour of decorator Monique Gibson’s home in Architectural Digest! It’s such a beautiful space!

Once in a while, a sale comes along that’s so good it makes you stop everything, load up your virtual cart, and upgrade your entire wardrobe! Think you have to wait until Black Friday for that to happen? Think again…Madewell is giving a preview of their Black Friday sale, and the opportunity to shop early! Don’t wait, these things will go quickly! Keep scrolling for a few of my favorite picks from the sale!

I recently made this delicious pasta…it’s the perfect fall comfort food and so easy to make!

I’m also dying to make Brown Butter Brussels Sprout and Bacon Fettuccine Alfredo from Half Baked Harvest! Speaking of which, the newish Half Baked Harvest Cookbook - Super Simple is one of my favorites and would make a great holiday gift! And speaking of cookbooks, I also love Joanna Gaines Magnolia Table: A Collection of Recipes for Gathering.

If you love Emma Roberts, you’ll love Holidate! If you’re looking for a good comedy with a little cheesy romance, then put this movie on your list. It premiers on Netflix this Wednesday, October 28th. Have a look at the trailer below!

That’s all for now…we’re leaving to get Amos and we have a 6 hour drive ahead of us! I hope you all have a great weekend! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to know what you think of this post and also what your favorite kinds of post are…fashion?, food?…please let me know in the comments below!
