Setting Intentions for 2022
Intention-setting is less about a specific goal and more about a shift in mindset to move in a specific direction. While resolutions are hard and fast goals that are either achieved or broken, intentions are broader ideas. I like the idea of a broader idea because the sky can be the limit and you just never know what may happen!
2022 started off with a bang and I feel that I’m just settling into the year and my routine and I’m finally putting some intentions out there! I’ve decided to choose a word and a phrase for the year.
I’ll start with the word and it’s FOCUS. Focus, defined as a noun means - the center of interest or activity; and described as a verb it means - to pay particular attention to. I want my attention to be focused on my activity so that I can accomplish more without being distracted by other things. I have so much going on in my life and it’s easy to get distracted with one thing or another, especially social media. Because social media is a huge part of what I do…it’s always there and the rabbit hole is deep. I’ve started setting a timer for liking and commenting on other peoples posts so that I don’t get caught up watching random reels or looking at beautiful interiors and food!
With more focus, I’ll be able to do the things I’ve committed to do in my life and business more effectively which i turn will leave more time for play and relaxation. I love doing things to grow my business and it is so intertwined with my life that sometimes it’s hard to stop and just live. My mind is not often “off” because I’m always learning and thinking of new ways to grow and offer more.
My phrase is… to live in honor of myself. This may sound odd, but I’ve put some thought into it and here’s what I’ve come up with…
Living in honor of myself means that I’ll speak from my heart - here on this blog and in my life. I will “be” exactly who I am. It means establishing boundaries and honoring those boundaries for myself and for those around me. It means following my passion which is my innate God given creativity. It means loving those around me as much and as well as I can…listening with focus, showing up when I say I will and enjoying who they are.
Living in honor of myself means that I will walk forward in faith…one step at a time, knowing that I’m guided, loved and supported.
I am definitely on a Journey of Becoming more of the woman i AM and discovering and walking my path has become my passion. I’m forever finding a new mentor or book because I love to learn…AND - I still love fashion!
Being creative with fashion seems easier to me when the weather is warm, so the challenge is to come up with outfits that reflect my style and personality when the weather is cold. Having a collection of coats is a great place to start. I ordered this BB Dakota coat back in September and I’ve worn it often. It was really inexpensive and goes with so many outfits. My striped sweater is from Loft and again, it’s so versatile. I’ve paired these pieces with one of my new obsessions…clog boots from Veronica Beard.
Probably, 12 years ago, Tory Burch made a pair of clog boots that were very similar to these and I loved them so much that I wore them completely out. I still have them even though the sole is coming off…I sometimes wear them when we’re sitting outside by the fire and I think the heat from the fire has melted the glue on the sole. ~ That’s my fashion story for the day. Scroll down to shop similar pieces and the exact boots…they’re fur lined all the way to the toe and oh so warm…and they come in black! I might see those in my future!
I’ve poured my heart and soul into my new program Journey of Becoming. It’s a 21 day program that will help you start your journey to become more of the woman you are…to discover your potential, let go of past stories that don’t serve you and live joyfully! Please join me…you’ll be so glad you did!
