Styling a Dress for Fall

As I was packing for my trip to Savannah last week…at the last minute, I decided to pack this dress from Brochu Walker. It had been hanging with a chunky cardigan sweater draped over the shoulders because I thought it would be a great fall look and I had every intention of ordering the Brochu Walker wrap belt to wear with the dress but never did, so…I hadn’t photographed it yet. I plan these things in my head and sometimes the follow through takes a while! But…for some reason, I decided to pack it all anyway! Little did I know that there really was a reason…

As you all know, I attended the Influencers of Midlife Conference in Savannah that started Monday of this past week. It was an amazing conference with many fabulous speakers and I was like a sponge sitting on the edge of my seat soaking in everything!

One of the speakers was Jennifer Ponson of Jennifer Ponson Jewelry Designs in Pensacola Florida. I won’t tell her whole story but key events in her life led her to begin her career as an entrepreneur, designing and selling her handmade jewelry!

I became pretty obsessed with her pieces and in particular, the necklace I’m wearing in these pictures! It really completed the outfit I have on in the best way! I’ve always loved turquoise and this necklace spoke to me the first time I saw it! I also knew that I would wear it with this dress and I’m so glad I decided to pack it! This just goes to show…if you have an impulse to do something, there is usually a reason so trust your impulse!

There is so much talk lately about wearing versus styling your clothes and this outfit is styled in the best way for fall! I added a chunky cardigan sweater (also from Brochu Walker) a suede bag from Jimmy Choo and Dolce Vita booties as well as bracelets from Tamera Beardsley to style what I think is a fabulous, classic daytime look! I did get several compliments on my outfit while I was at the Drayton Hotel!

It was a rather warm day in Savannah so I pushed the sleeves up on the sweater and it really showcased the bracelets and added a touch more style to the look!

The last time I wore this dress was at Bald Head Island and it was styled for the beach with little more than some jewelry and the breeze blowing in my hair! It’s such a versatile that will carry me through the fall season and I’ll certainly pull it back out for spring! It comes in several other colors, including a faux black leather that’s perfect for this time of year! I did finally order the wrap belt I mentioned above and it should arrive any day now and I’ll have yet another way to style the dress and many other pieces!

I’m home for the most part until November when Baldy and I are going on a short Caribbean cruise with Virgin Voyages! It’ll be a fun and hopefully relaxing trip before the holidays are in full swing. I’ve already been thinking about what I’ll need to pack and trying to get organized! I made an Amazon list for inspiration that has been helpful! Be sure to take a look if you’re planning any travel soon! Between now and then, I have some fabulous fall content planned including fall food & decor, fall and winter fashion, and more!

Baldy and I are headed to the UNC football game at noon today and I need to figure out what in the world to wear because it’s going to be hot! Check out my Instagram stories to see what I decide on! Thanks so much for reading today and have a fabulous weekend!!
