Get Glowing for Summer with These Body Scrubs
As someone who’s pretty obsessed with my face skincare routine, it’s crazy how I’ve neglect the skin below my neck. I’m always in a hurry when I shower and when I get out I use a body oil or a body butter and call it a day! Occasionally, I use a dry brush and it makes my skin feel so good, but so many times, I don’t take the time. Recently, I decided to start using a body scrub because being in the sun has caused my skin to feel so dry. I’ve discovered that there is nothing like a body scrub in the shower to exfoliate dull skin. My skin looks smoother, more toned and definitely more hydrated.
If you’re applying a self tanner, using a body scrub is essential for getting a smooth tan, but exfoliating doesn’t just slough away dead skin cells, it can help boost circulation, reduce the appearance of pores and fine lines and reduce cellulite. Since it’s officially summer in the next few days, it’s time to say goodbye to dry skin and… I have just the body scrubs to try! Hello smooth, silky skin!
I tried three body scrubs…Le Labo Body Scrub, Herbivore Botanicals Coco Rose Coconut Oil Body Polish, and StriVectin Crepe Control Exfoliating Body Scrub.
I am trying to be more conscious of not using plastic packaging when possible, so I originally chose the Le Labo for the packaging…which didn’t turn out how I had planned. Amos is a bandit and stole it off of the side of the bathtub and proceeded to chew it up. The bag closes like a bag of coffee which is appropriate because that’s what it smells like, but he chewed the tab off so I couldn’t reseal it…I guess I’ll just have to use it up really quickly. In all honestly, this was my favorite of the three. I wish I could describe to you how delicious it smells. It left my skin feeling silky and smooth and I want to use it every day! It did, of the three, make the most mess in the shower which isn’t really a legitimate reason not to love it! I’m thinking I might just put it in a plastic container from the kitchen and store it that way! Amos…what will you chew next!?
Coffee and sunflower seeds combined with nourishing safflower oil give this body scrub its unique, rich texture. Just remember, it is a little messy.
My next favorite was the Herbivore Coco Rose Coconut Oil Body Polish. Again, the scent is divine (Moroccan Rose Oil), but not quite as divine as the Le Labo. Everyone has different likes and dislikes as far as scents go, so you may love this one more. It love the pretty packaging (even though it’s plastic) and it did leave my skin feeling very silky and smooth. The sugar and coconut oil work together to exfoliate and moisturize.
The StriVectin Crepe Control Exfoliating Body Scrub “features a dual retexturizing blend of physical exfoliants and AHAs to polish away and gently dissolve dull, dead skin cells, leaving skin visibly brightened, ultrasoft and primed for enhanced results from your moisturizer. Quartz crystals and rice powder instantly polish, smooth and exfoliate; lactic and glycolic acids retexturize and renew; and papaya and guava extract brighten and even skin tone.”
This body scrub has the most active ingredients, but, in my opinion, just doesn’t smell as good as the others. I will definitely use it…my plan is to rotate the three scrubs each week.
I’m including a few other body scrubs that I would like to try in the boutique below. Let me know if you have a favorite!
