A Magical Day in Saint-Tropez
Saint-Tropez is at the heart of the French Riviera and the sun must shine more brightly there than any place I’ve ever been. The water is deep blue, and everyone is beautiful…no wait…maybe that’s just the effect of the chilled rosé going to my head! Saint-Tropez is the place for long leisurely lunches! You also want to spend time shopping in the Provincial boutiques, art galleries (and Jimmy Choo) and learning about the historic charms of this beautiful seaside town!
A shopping space was created just for Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez.

The beautiful girl, pictured below was hired by a local boutique to walk up and down the street at the waterfront modeling different outfits. After seeing her, I did question my choice of outfits, but one never knows what the weather will be!
The sail boats went all around the bay and were some of the biggest and most beautiful I’ve ever seen!
If you look closely at this picture, you’ll see a table set with china, crystal and flowers! That’s my kind of sailing!
Les Voiles de Saint Tropez is a sailboat race that happens every year in Saint Tropez. It is the highlight of the Mediterranean season and features a series of races every day for a week. The combination of classic yachts with ultra-modern boats is the main feature of Les Voiles with the unique backdrop of the bay of Saint Tropez. There was an entire shopping village that had been set up just for visitors to Les Voiles de Sant Tropez. We shopped for a few logo items, just so everyone would know we had been to this fabulous place…as you can see from the picture, there were a few high end sponsors to say the least!
The waterfront on the bay was packed the day we were there as it was the last day of the Les Voiles de Saint Tropez. We loved seeing the beautiful boats and it was the best people watching. After we had walked around for a couple of hours, we decided to sit down for a nibble and a glass of rosé at a charming little restaurant (pictured above). As we were talking and enjoying ourselves, two people walked in with trophies…we realized that they were the winners of the Les Voiles de Saint Tropez. We were fortunate enough to get a picture of the proud winners!
The Winners!
The area of Saint-Tropez called La Ponche is the old fishing district of St Tropez. It is a very charming and historic area having been a fishing village for most of the 18th century. It also is the spot where the film “And God Created Woman (Et Dieu créa la femme)” was filmed. The film starred Brigitte Bardot who was the wife of director Roger Vadim. This film and Brigitte Bardot made Saint-Tropez famous worldwide!
The La Ponche Hotel is a famous 5 star hotel in the heart of La Ponch. It’s small and discreet and all about luxury and elegance. If I had known, I would have suggested staying overnight there, but there is always next time!. We were able to eat in the restaurant and feasted on oysters, fig and brie salad, filet of sole, the most beautiful desserts and of course chilled white wine. We sipped wine, enjoyed our fabulous lunch and did just a bit more people watching!
No visit to Saint-Tropez is complete without strolling the charming streets and shopping in the boutiques.
The dog watching is almost as much fun as the people watching! This cute dog had a candy color tail, but his owners shoes were actually what caught my eye!
Three tired but happy ladies at the end of a beautiful day in Saint-Tropez!
We strolled along the water and watched the sunset…beautiful!
I hope you enjoyed my little tour of Saint-Tropez. I know that I’ll return one day and stay at the La Ponche Hotel and I’m bringing Baldy with me!
