A Cheeseboard is Always a Good Idea
I thought I would lighten things up a little after the blog posts I’ve written over the last several days and how better to do that than to talk about cheese!
With the weather changing and temps getting cooler, outdoor entertaining will be much more pleasant and a cheese board or charcuterie board are easy, beautiful and delicious ways to make entertaining easy!
Over the years, I’ve collected platters, trays, baskets and boards to create cheese platters for 1 or 2 people or as many as 100 people! Even if you never plan to serve 100, it’s nice to have serving options for your presentation so your cheese display doesn’t look the same every time. Mix things up by using seasonal fruit, interesting spreads and nuts presented in an artistic way!
Today, I’m sharing a few examples of cheese displays large and small to inspire you!
Use your favorite cheese, fresh figs, grapes and nuts for a beautiful and delicious fall cheese board! Fresh herbs always add interest!
This crudité display is beautifully and creatively presented in a vintage dough bowl.
This is a favorite charcuterie display made on a board I got at Target. Every time I make a board it looks sightly different and that’s what make it so much fun!
Dried fruits such as apricots and dates pair beautifully with cheese!
Several years ago, I hosted a French dinner party as a fund raiser for our local arts council and served a cheese course on a china platter!
Cheese and honey are perfect partners!
We have a charming little gazebo in our back garden and I like to serve cheese and wine for 2, when the weather gets cooler and it’s nice outside in the evening!
I have a large round mat that I cover with sheets of parchment paper and it’s the perfect way to create a large cheese display for a cocktail party or event. For this display, I included heartier offerings such as meats and skewered tortellini as well as hummus!
I created this display a few years ago for a large group of people! The fruits and veggies made it look so pretty and the cheese was scattered throughout so that guests could pick and choose and the table never looked picked over (until the very end)!
One of my favorite things to eat for dinner when it’s just me is cheese and crackers along with a few nuts! It’s not something I get to do often, but it’s so delicious and easy! The board above is so simple with a wedge of Humboldt Fog cheese, Marcona almonds, honey and a few crackers! This makes me very happy!
I’m sitting in a hotel room in Richmond, Virginia writing this post! Our daughter and her husband are moving here and we’re here to help get them settled! I’m excited to explore Richmond and discover all the best places to sightsee, shop and especially eat and I’ll look forward to sharing it all here! Have a great day!
