8Greens - A New Favorite Product

Lately, I’ve become quite a supplement junkie. It seems that I add something to my morning regimen every couple of weeks. One of my latest finds is 8Greens or simply 8G. I first learned about 8G from reading an article about Dawn Russell, the founder on the Bergdorff Goodman website and was fascinated by the concept. Dawn Russell is a former model who was diagnosed with cancer when she was 25. She is now in her 40’s, in remission, and committed to consuming leafy greens everyday for overall health. During her cancer treatment she received 30,000 units of blue-green algae in a vitamin drip daily, to boost her energy levels and this helped her to realize just how important it is to consume greens daily. Greens have minerals, vitamins and antioxidants, and they have a huge effect on your skin, as well as detoxing your body, and helping to alkalize your pH levels which is very important for overall good health.

Getting your greens daily isn’t always easy because we’re all so busy. Juicing is a good way to get greens but it’s messy and time consuming and buying a green juice daily is very expensive. Dawn wanted to come up with an inexpensive (about $1 per day) portable product that would be an immune pick-me-up for the days when you don’t have time to eat or juice your greens.

She tested 263 versions of a greens tablet she was developing over a period of 3 years and finally came up with an effervescent tablet with a lemon-lime flavor and called it 8Greens. Each tablet contains 8 greens, hence the name 8G. The greens include kale, spinach, wheat grass, chlorella, spirulina, aloe vera, barley grass and blue green algae with less than 15 calories.

The 8G tablets taste really good, and I feel good taking them daily in addition to trying to eat a healthy diet. I’ve gotten my family hooked as well and now we all use 8G everyday! In addition to the 8G tablets that I take every day, I purchased the 8Greens Cookbook and I’m incorporating the 8G tablets into recipes to get even more greens! Cooking with 8G is a great way to “sneak” greens into food for picky children as well!
