Step Up Your Fashion Game With a Fall Closet Refresh

“Dress like you’re going somewhere better later.”

The back-to-school mentality, which is synonymous with fall, tends to carry with it a desire for a fashion refresh. Remember going shopping as a child at the end of the summer and getting new fall clothes…it was too hot to wear them, but you wore them anyway? There is something about fall that makes us want to have a fresh fashion start!

But as so many of us continue to work from home, the way we view trends—and more importantly, what we actually need—has shifted towards an energy that is more relaxed. This fall, put your focus on timeless pieces that will refresh your closet and meet the needs of your changing life!

Black jeans are a closet staple and can be updated this year with a pair that are straight and cropped. Skinny jeans are still a favorite of mine, but a new silhouette seems more current right now. I’m styling these from J Brand with different shoes and sweaters. All of these looks are great “work from home” looks and will also take you to a casual lunch or dinner-out and everywhere in between!

I don’t think we’re finished with warm weather here in North Carolina…in fact, it’s supposed to be 80 degrees here on Sunday and the little short sleeve sweater I’m wearing above is perfect to wear on it’s own and also to layer under a cute jacket. I will definitely be pairing it under a camo or military style jacket with jeans and also with skirts and it would be fabulous with white jeans and snakeskin booties!

Anine Bing is one of my favorite brands. You’ll find trendy graphic tees and sweatshirts, but also “keep forever” classic blazers, leather pieces, jeans and so much more! If you don’t know about this brand, be sure to check out the website!

In the picture above, I’m wearing another Anine Bing graphic tee. This limited-edition T-shirt comes screen printed with an archival image by legendary photographer Terry O'Neill. I added a cardigan for an extra layer of warmth and Nike sneakers.
