Getting Organized and a January Outfit
I really didn’t think I would be able to post this morning, but it seems that I can so here goes! I have been literally cleaning out everything I (we) own this week. It started with my closet (I promise that post is coming) and then I moved on to the kitchen, a storage closet in my office, my daughters’ closets, the linen closet, my desk drawers, it has literally consumed me this week. I cannot tell you how good it feels to get rid of so many things that have been weighing me down. It feels like I’m getting rid of more than just stuff. I feel lighter, I can see what I own and the best part is that I can find what I’m looking for! I think it’s symbolic that I’m finally starting a new phase of my life! I wrote in my journal on Monday morning that this week would be life changing because that’s what came to me in my meditation. I’m still not sure what is happening, but I can feel that things are going in a great direction and I’m ready! I read today that what we do every day defines us and today’s progress is always compounded by yesterday’s effort, no matter how small. How can we make any progress when we have so much clutter around us. Things that don’t hold good memories or energy! I’ve moved all of that out of my life and I’ve made space for the new to come in. I have become extremely conscious of how I’m spending my time and I’ve been very good about redirecting myself when I get off track. I have three more days left in this week and I intend to make the most of every minute. Next week, I’ll awaken to a brand new space (as far as how it feels) and I think that it will make all the difference in how I am able to move through my day. My intention is to keep this going and not ever let the clutter build up again. I love the freedom that I’m feeling right now.

About the fashion…these pictures were taken on Saturday, after the cleaning out spree started. I was feeling as if I had gotten a significant amount accomplished and knew that I had started down a path of some sorts. I learned a lesson that evening and I won’t go into the details, but the lesson was that the past belongs in the past. Sometimes you have to symbolically move the past out in order to move on.
While cleaning out, one of the things I found was this great pair of black jeans that looked brand new. I have been needing a new pair of black jeans, so I was thrilled. The blouse is by Equipment and it’s several years old and I paired it with a Gucci Belt and Marni bag that added just a bit of color to an otherwise neutral outfit. I really loved wearing this, but I will admit that I’m ready to go full on with the color since spring is coming!
I think most people go through this catharsis in the beginning of January, and I was a little late to the game but February is going to be a fantastic month!
