3 Ways to Wear White in Winter
Whomever said that you shouldn’t wear white after Labor Day had it all wrong. In fact, knowing how to wear white in winter is key to surviving cold weather in style, along with a really, really good pair of boots. One of the best ways to make a big statement with your outfit is to dress monochromatically — and white definitely delivers a wow factor.
All-white outfits are a great way to ensure that your look is crisp and put-together. I prefer more creamy tones to stark shades, but either way, white pieces lend a lightness to what can become an otherwise more dull and muted wardrobe for January and February. Unlike all-black outfits, which require the same shade of black, a subtle difference between your outfit's shades of white — especially in knit materials like cashmere and wool — look very sophisticated.
For the freshest option of all, build your outfit entirely in shades of ivory, cream, and snowy white. My outfit consists of a sweater from Vici (my favorite new online obsessions), creamy denim and a taupe shade bootie…the glass of wine is optional and I just realized that I’m holding one in both pictures! Oh well, it was late in the day and I was ready to wind down!
A thick and elegant grey sweater is just the thing paired with wide-legged white pants and a slightly putty color of bootie. I like for my wide leg pants to be very long over a sky high heel to give the illusion of longer legs.
I decided to throw in an old picture because I still own and wear all of the pieces pictured below. I actually am packing this outfit to wear in Atlanta because it’s supposed to be cold. A black and white outfit in winter is just as elegant as a monochromatic one and everyone owns some version of black boots.
When shopping for white denim or pants in winter, choose a heavier pair and style them with plenty of layers and textures. Cashmere, velvet, fur and shearling are good options. When it comes to choosing color combinations, try olive green, teal blue, and softer hues such as cocoa and camel. Black is always the perfect option with white as well.
I’m leaving for Atlanta for a blogger conference and I’m excited to share all of that with you! If you haven’t had a chance to watch my latest videos…you can view them here!
