Who Am I Talking to Anyway?

Women my age, have a thing or two to say about fashion and style and life in general.  Here are my thoughts about being "Over 50" and blogging!

About 6 months ago, I decided to start to focus the content of Crazy Blonde Life more specifically on women at Midlife.  Why not...that's what I can speak best about at this point.  We are not different from younger women in that we all have problems and struggles specific to our lives, but we do have so much wisdom, beauty and confidence to share.  We have, for the most part found that we don't care what anyone else thinks of us.  We are striving to live lives that are rich, full and worth living!

I have spoken so much about only moving forward, because we can't go backward...and most of us would not want to even if we could!

I don't want to say that younger influencers (bloggers) don't have something to say, because we all have an audience, but there is something to be said about the experience and wisdom that comes with age.  I won't ever endorse something that I don't like or wouldn't use.  I am determined to be authentic, to a fault (ok sometimes I edit the vein in my forehead haha).

My generation, as a whole, did not growing up hearing "you can do anything"...although there are certainly exceptions.  It really never occurred to me that I could have an independent life and do whatever I wanted to do.  I lived most of my life by default, but I can't have regrets about that because it made me who I am today.  I have always had a sense of curiosity that led me to meet and befriend people who were different than me.  I learned so much from those friends and from the amazing experience of being a mother.

Women of a certain age, including myself, are just starting to come into their own and prove that we are interesting and sexy and have something important to say. and that we can do anything!  I think some women just need to hear that it's ok to wear ripped jeans (just an example) or whatever they want and I'm here to say it!  It's not about a number, it's about wearing and doing what makes you feel good and making your own statement.

I think my readers are smart and well educated...some (like me) graduated from the school of hard knocks, but that counts too!  They are starting and/or restarting their careers and remaking their lives.  Women my age, enjoy engaging with each other through social media on their own terms.  They want to be relevant and understand what is available to them in the fashion world and beyond.

Women in midlife are a group of fascinating women who are always open to new ideas and ready to make their lives the best they can be.  My goal is to inspire and share my life and ideas in the hopes that I will encourage others to live with passion!  There will always be struggles and hard days, so lets talk about that, but life is worth living and living well!

I think that brands are finally starting to realize that women at midlife are a huge demographic.  We have more disposable income and are willing to spend it on fashion that will last and products that work.  We also have major influence as midlife bloggers because we are speaking to women who know what they want and aren't willing to make a sacrifice in order to sell something that doesn't work.

I think when it comes to fashion, there are certain "rules" (lets be tasteful) that apply to every age (jeans without a butt aren't even a thing that need to be discussed...have you seen those...omg?), but otherwise rules don't apply.  Make sure that what you're wearing makes you feel good.  Dress for yourself, because ultimately, it only matters what you think.  Trends come and go...only wear the ones that you like and always know that you can write your own rules in fashion and in life!

We tell ourselves a story about aging that isn't true.  Let's rewrite that story and encourage our daughters and their daughters to be completely and totally authentic.  I believe authenticity is a very personal thing and different for everyone!  Let's encourage them not to judge, but to support and inspire and most importantly, let's be an example for them!  Life begins again every day no matter how old you are!

I certainly welcome readers of all ages and hope that there is a little something for everyone here!  I'm talking to anyone who wants to listen!
