Styling a Vintage Fur Coat
Happy Monday! The cold has definitely come to North Carolina in a big way. The snowstorm we had over the weekend was magical and now weβre left with lots of snow and itβs cold! Iβve been rotating through my coat collection (mostly leopard) and Iβm pulling out the coziest ones right now. The coat Iβm wearing in these pictures was one my mother wore while I was growing up and she gave it to me. I really love to incorporate vintage items into my wardrobe and this one has a special place in my heart! Yes, it is real furβ¦and it is very warm. I actually wore it out while it was lightly snowing and at least the top half of me stayed warm.
I know the way Iβve styled this coat is far from classic, but I wanted to show that you can wear vintage pieces any way you wish. I decided to wear a favorite pair of jeans, a cream equipment blouse, my funky pearl necklace (a nod to the way my mom would have worn it), and a pair of leopard Tory Burch booties that Iβve had for years. I think the style of this coat makes it perfect for jeans.
I found the pearl necklace Iβm wearing about 10 years ago in a small boutique. Itβs made from several old vintage pearl necklaces with added hardware to make it a little funky. Iβve love it because itβs different and I wear it so much! Itβs great to search out unique pieces that add your personality to an outfit. Scroll through the boutique belowβ¦Iβve found some great faux fur coats and a similar necklace as well as very similar booties!
Iβm linking several similar jackets below! No matter how you style it, a chic jacket makes everything cozier.
Iβm including this picture of another long vintage faux fur coat that I purchased in Savannah Georgia from a great shop called House of Strut. If youβre ever in Savannah you should definitely check it out, but in he meantime, they have an incredible website that you can shop from if youβre ever looking for the perfect unique piece to complete an outfit!
