How to Wear the Combat Boot Trend

I hope you all had the most wonderful Christmas day! Ours was filled with so much fun and wrapping paper! Hudson had a blast and hit the wall last night…he slept with me and hardly moved at all! We are planning to have a restful day today, play with toys, straighten up the house, eat all the leftovers and go to see Mary Poppins! My posts will be a little short this week as it’s hard to blog and take care of a 3 year old who wants to hang out with his grandmother! I hope you enjoy!

Toughen up feminine silhouettes and fabrics with this classic and comfortable kicker.

Tough, no-frills-attached combat boots feel just right for grounding any outfit and I especially love them with dresses (ok and with jeans as well). The key elements to the classic style are still thereβ€”think lace hooks, rounded toes, and sturdy solesβ€”but they've been made to feel street style-forward with new elements such as ribbon detail, fur lining, gorgeous hardware, extra high heels and even pearls! You may think of Doc Marten’s when you think of combat boots, but designers such as Valentino, Gucci, Chanel and many others have come out with their own fabulous versions!

This season, give combat boots life beyond the jeans-and-sweater section of your wardrobe. Toughen up fabrics like silk and leather, and perfect a stylish juxtaposition by pulling them on with skirts and dresses. Standard boot IQ would have you think a nubby sock is best to wear underneath, but, styling with sleek hosiery (like my fishnet hose) works just as well.
