A Fashion Show with Designer Beth Pilger
Living in a small town is wonderful, but one thing that I sometimes long for is the cultural experience of a big city. We are however, not without a few cultural treasures in Alamance County, North Carolina and one of them is Alamance Arts. Alamance Arts is housed in an historic house called The Captain White House in the center of Graham, North Carolina. Alamance Arts brings the arts to a small town in a big way! Who would ever think that we would have exhibits such as Chihuly Glass, and the current exhibit - Reflections of Elegance: Kenneth Paul Block & The Masters of Fashion Illustration.
We are so fortunate to have Alamance Arts in our community and the next big thing thatβs coming our way is a fashion show presented by Alamance Arts. Itβs called Couture Runway with fashion designer Beth Pilger. The fashion show will be held on Saturday, October 27 to benefit the arts in our community! If youβre local (or close by) this may be a once in a lifetime opportunity, and an event you donβt want to miss! Check out the Alamance Arts website for more information about location. You can purchase tickets here. Beth Pilger is a Southern girl and this show is inspired by her experiences and memories of the South. βPilger Designs was launched in the fall of 2009 by Beth Pilger. Beth was born and
raised in the mountains of Appalachia in West Virginia. An avid collector of vintage clothing and knitwear led to an exploration in fiber and felting, producing pieces with contrasting materials and unique elements. She studied fashion design at Parsons the New School for Design in New York. During her 15 year career as a fashion and costume designer Beth has exhibited widely in the US and abroad, from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam to movie premieres and international music stages. Her work has also been featured on TV as well as international fashion sites such as Vogue Italia. After a four year hiatus, Beth is excited to be presenting a new body of couture knitwear this fall inspired by her experiences and memories of the south. With sustainability as a dominant force, this new body of work seeks to blur the line between art and design, offering a truly conceptual experience. Beth partnered with local farmers and businesses to showcase the beauty of natural materials within her designs. Each piece is handcrafted using hand spun or recycled yarns with hand felted fabrics and reclaimed wood. Pilger taps into America's rich fiber resources to create an amazing array of hand spun, hand knit, and hand felted pieces using wool, mohair, cotton, and feathers.β
Please join Alamance Arts and support this amazing event. Iβm sure it will be an evening to remember! See you there!
