Sizzling Summer 2017
It's been a whirlwind of a summer so far and I'm sharing a few pictures that haven't been on the blog...some from Bald Head Island and some that were taken here. I've spent the weekend doing some much needed work in the house and in the yard. Sarah's wedding is coming up and I want everything to look nice!
Tonight, I had a really light dinner and caught up on some magazines that had piled up while I was gone. I made some melon balls with a canteloupe and watermelon that I bought at the farmer's market and added blueberries and fresh mint. It felt too hot to cook anything and it was just me so this was a perfect dinner with some left over for breakfast.
It might be hard to believe (haha), but I have hundreds of pictures of Hudson and these are a few of my favorites that haven't been on the blog!
The picture below was taken in Orlando and I'm wearing a Trina Turk jumpsuit and Kendra Scott necklace. My bag is from Henri Bendel.
I had curly, messy hair the whole time we were on vacation because the humidity was crazy. I also didn't dress up very often and my uniform was a pair of shorts and top. This off-the-shoulder top from Loft felt dressy to me paired with my very favorite Target sandals (sadly, they're sold out, but I also love these).
My new bar cart, styled for outdoor entertaining.
I am missing the porch at Bald Head. I love relaxing with a magazine and coffee or a glass of wine. I'm trying to take more time at home to do some things that I enjoy, instead of working all of the time. I have definitely kept up my daily meditation since being home and I can really see a huge difference in how my day goes when I meditate.
Britt and I at the Bald Head Island Club. I made some unforgettable memories with friends and family on this trip and that's what life is all about. I feel so grateful and blessed to have such a wonderful and supportive family and great friends.
I could eat capresé salad with pesto every night when tomatoes are in season.
There was a beautiful sunset at Bald Head almost every night.
My favorite summer fragrance (as I've said before) is Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt. This fragrance also mixes well with Pomegranate Noir (another favorite).
The painting in the background is by Anna Cate of the Anna Cate Collection. I bought two of her paintings to hang in my closet when I hosted a trunk show. She is a very talented girl and I can't wait to see what she does in the fall. You can follow Anna Cate on Instagram.
I made this delicious Field Pea, Corn and Bacon Salad for dinner while we were at the beach (get the recipe here). I served it on fabulous and unbreakable melamine plates with a glass of Rosé!
This summer, I have been loving a more rustic look, especially for outdoor parties. I used a vintage dough bowl to display crudité for a party that I catered. I think it's so interesting to mix these more rustic pieces with silver and other pieces that are usually thought of as formal.
The lighthouse at Bald Head Island is called Old Baldy (sometimes that what my girls call their dad).
The next couple of pictures and the one above were taken by Sara-Anne Caudle. Sara-Anne spent a couple of days with me at Bald Head and we had so much fun exploring the island and taking pictures! I've learned so much about photography from her!
Believe it or not, my top is from Target (on sale for 16.00)! I've found some really cute things there this summer. My hat is Draper James (similar here) that I got on a trip to Nashville last summer, my sandals are Joie and the fabulous earrings are Stella & Dot.
Another picture by Sara-Anne. I'm wearing a fabulous scarf by Heliquadrisme with my favorite Target bathing suit. You can read more about Héliquadrisme here.
A beautiful picnic on the beach at sunset.
I have discovered a new creamy, delicious yogurt that I'm obsessed with. It's an European style yogurt by Yoplait and comes in glass jars. I've tried the lemon and blueberry so far and I love both!
Looking over these pictures and going back in my mind to the memories I have about all of these events makes me feel incredibly grateful. The fact is, I realized, not too long ago, that I have the choice to live any kind of life that I choose. It all comes down to the thoughts that I think and the actions that I decide upon as a result of those thoughts! I hope you've enjoyed this post! Let me know by leaving comments in the box below! I always love to hear from you!
