Classic Silhouettes, Unexpected Details
Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a nice weekend and a nice Mother’s Day! The weather was beautiful and I enjoyed spending time with my daughter Lauren and her family yesterday! I took the pups for a long walk later in the afternoon and planted some basil. I think the warm weather is finally here to stay and I’m excited to watch my basil grow and make pesto very soon. I’m still struggling with the technical issues as you’ll see as you scroll down, but that’s not stopping me from working!
I got so inspired while shopping and people watching in New York and have loads of styling ideas and outfits to share. I’m also in the process of writing a Substack post about where I ate and what I did in New York. I had a great time but I’m glad to be home and finish up a few decor projects that have been waiting and get the house (and yard) ready for summer! I live to be outside right now before the heat and humidity set in! So…I hope you enjoy this post!
The collages I’m sharing today came together in several ways....
The first look is very me, and the cute olive green and white gingham pants were waiting for me when I got home from New York. I love them because they remind me of a picture I saw of Audrey Hepburn riding a bicycle with gingham pants, a white sleeveless blouse, white shoes, and her dog. The outfit looked so classic (of course, it’s was Audrey) and summery and would work in the city, at the beach, or anywhere in between.
When creating my look, I added a sun hat, an on-trend bandana bag, and raffia platform sandals... which would be very impractical on a bicycle (these would be better) but I also think they look great with the outfit! The beaded necklace adds a contrasting pop of color and I love the turquoise/olive green color combo of the pants, necklace and bag.
I've had so many people ask about wedding guest looks, so the second outfit is an unexpected idea that will definitely turn heads. Chocolate brown is trending as a wedding guest color for spring and summer, and I think it's oh so chic... I love it in the form of a satin midi dress styled with a blue floral beaded bag that has a bit of a boho feel. The fabulous beaded bag makes a bold statement with the dress, but it would also jazz up a pair of jeans simply paired with a white button-up. Fun tassel earrings and a classic shoe complete the look.
The third collage features a romantic maxi white dress that stands on its own. I could have gone the safe route with accessories, but instead opted for a bold clutch in pink and orange, a gold metallic stiletto, and gorgeous pearl earrings. I can also see this dress styled with neutral accessories... it would be perfect for a luncheon, a fancy dinner, or any dressier event (other than a wedding) for spring and summer. It's a beautiful piece that will stay in your closet for years to come! Keep scrolling for all the details!
