The Future Isn't Real...Yet!

The future isn't real...yet!  How do you want your future to be?  What you do right now, in this moment, 100% influences what your future will be.  Want to loose ten pounds, then make healthier food choices, want to be healthy and fit, get yourself to the gym or take a walk, want to create an opportunity to make more money, then make that call or send that email.  Your most authentic self is who you want to become.  If you feel that you are constantly failing at your goals, could it be that you are spending too much time thinking about things that have happened in the past, or worrying about what might happen in the future.  The key to achieving your most beautiful, authentic life, is to be fully present in this moment and take the steps, mindfully, that are necessary to make it happen.  I'm sure you've heard it said, that if you want something, you should act as if you already have it.  This is calling the Law of Attraction into action!

This fabulous Buddha was a gift from my husband.  I found it in a shop in Blowing Rock, North Carolina and knew that I had to have it!  It sits in my meditation room and inspires me to meditate (mostly) daily.

Don't get me wrong, I never said that any of this would be easy, but always always worth the effort.  When you take the time to decide what you want, what you want to have (a new car, relationship etc), what you want to be (for me that's a badass blogger haha), or even where you want to go, you will be stretched and you'll have to take the steps necessary, moment by moment, to make it happen.  You'll feel at times like things aren't coming quickly enough, you'll get impatient, but remember to be fully present and in the moment.

Be determined to be positive.  Understand that the greater part of your misery or unhappiness is determined not by your circumstances, but by your attitude (your thoughts).

In a recent blog post, that you can read here,  I give three steps on how to start a meditation practice.  Meditation can help you to be present, because when you meditate, you consciously stop your mind from out of control thinking.  It's such a great feeling to control thoughts consciously,..you can call that feeling back anytime you need it through meditation, only if it's just for 3 - 5 minutes.  When you are able to slow down and learn to listen to the silence of your breath, you create an opportunity for clarity to come.  This is when you can actually see in your minds eye what needs to happen next.  Most of the time, the right steps are common sense, we are just so caught up in the busy-ness of life, and in our real, and in some cases, imagined problems and worries, that we can't see the forest for the trees.

Living as if you have already achieved your goals might seem crazy, but imagine writing a letter to your best friend or mother and describe your life as you want it to be.  Describe your ideal day and what happens to you as if it were actually happening.  When you can see very vividly what you desire, you will begin to play your roles naturally and eventually you will no longer be acting; your life will be as you desire it to be.  Your mind set will become...if this is who I am, then this is what I need to do.  For example, in my letter, I would describe myself as a very successful blogger with 100K followers.  What would I do in that situation?   I would most likely make calls and do my best to set up partnerships so that I could make more money to take my daughters to Greece next summer.  That would mean, that I need to call a travel agent and start looking into that trip!  Keep in mind, that everything begins with a thought, including this blog!

I hope this is making sense to you!  Keep mindfully creating your life every moment, and eventually you become who you intend to be.  You become your authentic self.

If you decide that thinking this way isn't for you, time will pass anyway and where will you be?  Living life with intention is certainly better than just letting life happen to you.  When you dwell on the past or worry about the future, you unconsciously call problems into your life and the past is recreated in the future.  Think about times when you've been so worried about something happening, that your stress and anxiety actually call that problem back into your life yet again (how many times have you argued with your spouse about the same thing)!

Another very important element to all of this is to remember to be grateful for the things that you already have.  Gratitude can immediately take us to a place of peace and happiness!  If you are reading this blog post, I am certain that there is something in your life that you are grateful for!

Try this for just one day, and see how you feel!  Have faith that you can create the life of your dreams, one moment at a time!
