Sweet Potato and Andouille Sausage Bites

I picked up the Fall Entertaining issue of Southern Living at the grocery store the other day and immediately wanted to make (and eat) everything in it!  I decided on this recipe for Sweet Potato and Chorizo Sausage bites.  I couldn't find chorizo, but I did find Andouille sausage so I substituted that.  The recipe also called for plum jam for the sauce, but I only had peach and it worked perfectly!  These sausage bites are your answer for holiday party hors d'oeuvres because everyone will love them!  They can also easily be made gluten free by using a gluten free baking mix.

I served the sausage bites on beautiful vintage dishes that I found at a local antique shop and fell in love with.  I think they are perfect for any time of the year and especially for fall.  The plates were made in England between 1890 and 1942 by Charles Allerton & Sons.  I didn't know anything about them when I bought them, but just thought they were pretty.  When I got home, I did a little research and let's just say that I got them for a steel!  I love to collect beautiful dishes and mix and match them for dinner parties and my holiday tables.
