A Weekend in Boston!

It feels like I was in a whirl wind this past weekend!  I left for Boston on Thursday morning and had stayed up way too late the night before trying to get packed after a day of running around doing errands and things that simply had to be done before leaving!  I was looking so forward to our trip to Boston and it really was so great to see Rebecca, but the trip got off to a bit of a rocky start!

I had been to the opthalmologist the day before to get just one contact lens so that I could see to read!  I was looking so forward to being able to read a book or magazine on the plane and to be able to see the menu when we went out to dinner!  The only problem was that when it came time to go to bed on Wednesday night, I couldn't get the contact out of my left eye!  I tried and tried until my eye was so red and irritated that I just gave up!  The next morning I tried again and by that time, my eye was so sore that I knew I had to go back to the doctor to get it out.  I was ready to go by 7:45 and thank goodness, they were able to get my contact out very easily!  I got back home and remembered that my drivers license had expired!  By this time, I was in a panic!  I quickly put my overpacked bags (packed at midnight the night before) into the car and raced to the drivers license office!  It was packed!  I just decided to wait it out even if it meant missing my flight, which it did!  I went straight to the airport with my temporary driver's license only to be told that my expired one was good for travel for one year after it expired!  I had several hours to kill before the next flight, so I parked myself in a restaurant, pulled out my computer, ordered a glass of wine (yes it was only 11:30) and worked on my blog for two hours!  Finally it was time to board the plane!

As you can see, it was a really nice trip when I finally got there!  It was soooo good to see Rebecca!  She is so happy living in Boston and I love visiting here there.  I'm looking forward to seeing more and more of the city with each trip!

This was the view from our hotel room at the Westin Copley Place!  We were on the 34th floor!  I loved just sitting in the window and watching the city!

I visited the Farmer's Market in Copley Square.  It was huge and there was such a variety of fabulous food and flowers!  It made me wish I had a place to cook, but I did get a fabulous brownie that was still warm!

There are beautiful buildings everywhere you look in Boston!  I want to learn more about the architecture before I go back next time.

One of my favorite shops on Newbury Street is Johnathan Adler.  It is such a bright and happy store!

I met Rebecca and Hayes on Thursday night for dinner at Puritan & Co.  These brussels sprouts were some of the best I've ever had.  Puritan & Co. is in Cambridge and the menu features seasonal food from local farms.

My favorite meal was at a restaurant called Waypoint.  Waypoint is a seafood restaurant but they have so much more than seafood!  The menu features small plates and they have a great variety of options.  The oysters, as you can see were perfect.  They came with three different sauces and were ice cold which is just how I like them.   The wine list was excellent...I had a Chenin Blanc that I loved.  The pasta is homemade and delicious!

It was hard to leave Rebecca there!  I'm so used to having her home for a month between Thanksgiving and Christmas and I will miss her so much this year!

So this is how the trip ended...Mr. Crazy and I landed in Raleigh and were walking out of the airport when I said "I don't know where my car keys are".  I frantically started looking through my purse and my carry on bag and could not find them anywhere!  After looking everywhere but my suitcases (yes there were two suitcases), we left and came home in Mr. Crazy's car.  He was not so happy with me at this point!  When we got home, I started unpacking and realized that they were in my suitcase the whole time!  I was relieved to find them, but that meant another trip to Raleigh to pick up my car last night!

I have decided to take an hour or so today to get organized for the week so I don't have a repeat of last week!
