SIMPLE EVERYDAY
Everyday life can be very busy and sometimes it's nice to have a day to relax and savor the simple things that really make life worth living. Yesterday was a little hectic in the morning because baby Hudson was with us and he is very busy these days. When he left, Rebecca and I decided to go to our local farmer's market and get some things for dinner. I wore this fabulous Johnny Was red top that I got from Rebecca & Co in Greensboro to the farmer's market and got so many complements. I love the embroidery and how cool and comfortable it is.
It was so nice to take the time to cook a lovely dinner and spend time talking with Rebecca on the front porch! We made a Savory Crostata with Caramelized Onions, Ricotta and Arugula. Keep reading because the recipe is below!
Simple everyday things can sometimes be the best things. I hope that you all have the opportunity this weekend to take some time and savor the simple things in life!
We have been buying slices of cake from this sweet lady for as long as I can remember! Her brownstone front cake is the best!
I bought these squash pickles to serve with dinner! They are so good that sometimes I eat them from the jar! The pattypan squash will go on the grill for dinner tonight.
For the crostata, I sautéed onions until they were very soft, then added salt and pepper, oregano and a splash of balsamic vinegar.
After the onions caramelized, I spooned ricotta cheese that was seasoned with salt and pepper over.
The whole delicious thing was topped with puff pastry and put into the oven to bake.
The finished crostata!
The crostata is flipped over onto a serving dish and topped with an arugula salad and fresh garden tomatoes. I added some fresh herbs for even more flavor.
This Minuty Rose is one of my favorites. Very crisp and dry...perfect with summer food on the porch!
My red shirt is by Johnny Was! Shop it here.
I cannot believe it's already Friday and that it's July 4th weekend! The summer is flying by! Have a great weekend everyone and don't forget to check back to see what this Crazy Blonde is up to!
