WHAT'S NEW IN SAVANNAH GEORGIA

Savannah Georgia is changing at at insane pace:  Everywhere you turn there's a construction project under way - new restaurants and shops everywhere!  It''s all very exciting but maybe a little hard to keep up with.  This past weekend, I did some serious research and I want to share my findings with you.

The Grey Restaurant

The Grey Restaurant was my hands down favorite place that we ate!  We actually liked it so much that we went back a second time to the bar and had more of the fabulous oysters and a drink or two.  The Grey is in Historic Downtown Savannah and it occupies a 1938 art deco Greyhound Bus Terminal.  It has been restored to its original beauty.  The Grey offers a soulful food and wine experience using regional produce, seafood and meats.  Chef Mashama Bailey transports people to a destination of comforting tastes with her version of Southern food.  The Grey is opened for lunch and dinner on weekdays, and just dinner on the weekends.  You will not be disappointed.

These oysters were some of the best I've ever had!

The drink with the lemon peel is called Arsenic and Old Lace!  It is a very dangerous drink with a fascinating name!

The Collins Quarter

The Collins Quarter is my next recommendation!  The Collins Quarter is styled after restaurants on Melbourne Australia's historic Collins Street.  It is a bustling, casual dining experience not to be missed!  The menu varies from a champagne breakfast to a dinner paired with fine wines!

We couldn't resist the French fries!  I ordered the roasted vegetable salad and ate every bite, and Rebecca had the avocado toast!

Sylvester & Co. Modern General

Sylvester & Co. is one of my favorite shops in Savannah and I have blogged several times about their coffee beans.  The store celebrates small manufacturers and craftsmanship.  The select and sell products that celebrate creative design and quality.  Sylvester & Co. will inspire you to beautify your home with simplicity!

Chocolat by Adam Turoni

Adam Turoni started his career in his grandmother's kitchen when he was eight years old.  He loved to bake cookies!  He started his first job in a kitchen at age 14 and by age 17, he was the pastry chef at Isabella's restaurant in Pennsylvania.  He interned with Alice Water's Chez Panisse in Berkeley, California.  He is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in New York and founded his company, Chocolat by Adam Turoni, at the age of 20!  This is such a beautiful gem of a shop!  It is so hard to decide what to buy and the smell of the chocolate is divine!

Mr. Crazy Blonde and I had a great time trying on hats in Goorin Brothers Hat Shop on Broughton Street!  Goorin Brothers Hat Shop has been around for 100 years!  Cassel Goorin, the founder, "hit the streets of Pittsburgh with a horse-drawn cart full of hats and a passion for the craft of making them" in 1895.
