PUMPKALLIGRAPHY

Who ever thought of mixing pumpkins and calligraphy?  Well the answer is Maghon Taylor of All She Wrote Notes.  All She Wrote Notes is a calligraphy studio that "specializes in celebrating every day".  Celebrate pumpkins, art, good food, good friends, community and creativity is certainly what we did on Monday.  This fun event was held at Juliepatoolies, the best place to go for invitations, Christmas cards and most anything else to do with graphic design!  The event was styled by the very talented Tiffany Gaither.  Tiffany is the blogger behind Delightfully Chic.  Check out her blog for ideas on design, great recipes and Taco Tuesday!  Yours truly, Crazy Blonde, made the Halloween goodies for the night.

The guests arrived with pumpkins in hand, ready to make a masterpiece!

Then the fun began with lots of glitter and creativity!

This was one of my favorites!

The menu included a Cheddar Cheeseball covered with poppy seeds, Mummy Jalapeno Poppers and Candy Corn Pretzels.  The Poppers were by far the biggest hit!  I'm including the recipes below!

Tiffany spray painted wine bottles with matte black paint to use as vases (they would also make great candle holders).

As the sun set everyone finished their pumpkins and headed home with them.  We had to have one last picture of the four of us.

Mummy Jalapeno Poppers

10 jalapeno peppers, sliced in half lengthwise and seeds removed (use rubber gloves so your hands don't burn from the jalapeno).  Leave the stem if you can on some or all of the halves

8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature

8 ounces jack cheese, shredded

1 scallion (green onion), finely chopped

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 package refrigerated crescent rolls (1 use Pillsbury)

2 eggs, beaten

candy eyeballs (can be purchased at Michael's)

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese, jack cheese, scallion and salt until well blended.

Roll out the crescent rolls and separate into 4 rectangles (not triangles) with a perforation in the middle of each.  Press your fingers into the perforations to seal them.  Using a pizza dcutter, cut each rectangle into 10 long pieces lengthwise.

Fill each jalepeno half with the cheese mixture.  Wrap each jalapeno half with the dough, leaving a space for the eyes.  Use two pieces of dough if necessary.  Brush with egg mixture and place on baking sheet.

Bake in oven for 10 - 15 minutes.  Remove from the oven and press the eyes into the cheese where the opening is.  Serve immediately.

Cheddar Cheeseball with Poppy Seeds

1 1/4 pounds extra sharp cheddar, shredded

1 cup sour cream

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted

1/3 cup dry sherry

1 1/4 teaspoons coarse salt

Pinch of cayenne pepper

1/3 cup poppy seeds

Process all ingredients except poppy seeds in a food processor until smooth.  Transfer to a large bowl lined with plastic wrap.  Refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour.

Unmold onto a plate.  Press poppy seeds evenly over surface, rounding top.
