I’ve been wearing so much marigold yellow lately, and every time I put it on, I remember why. It makes me happy. Fashion has always reflected what’s happening in the world, and with so much feeling uncertain and depressing, I can understand the appeal of getting dressed in colors that lift our spirits. Call it dopamine dressing…sometimes you just want an outfit that makes you smile. These two pieces from Ciao Lucia do exactly that, especially paired with my red suede Tory Burch bag and velvet Mary Janes from Amazon. I love the combination of yellow and red, and the velvet and suede give it that richness I want for fall. Getting dressed won’t solve the world’s problems, but there’s something to be said for choosing a little happiness wherever we can find it.

Ciao Lucia is a Los Angeles–based label founded by designer Lucy Akin, with a nod to the silhouettes and nostalgia of the 1960s. The collection is built around easy, wearable pieces with a vacation spirit…the kind of clothes you’d pack for a seaside trip and keep wearing once you’re home. That feeling really appeals to me, and this marigold yellow makes it even better. I love wearing these two pieces together, but I’ll also get plenty of use out of them separately…a matching set gives you so many possibilities.

I added these statement earrings from Lisi Lerch, and I think they’re the perfect finishing touch. This look is definitely for a maximalist, and the earrings play right along! They’re a pair I wear again and again!
There’s something satisfying about getting dressed simply because you love what you’re putting on. I don’t need a special occasion to wear a bright color or statement earrings. This combination makes me happy, and if all that color makes someone else smile as I walk by, even better!

I’m sure I’ll always have days when jeans and a white shirt are exactly what I want to wear, but lately I keep reaching for color. This marigold yellow has become a favorite, and I’m having fun finding new ways to wear it. What about you…is there a color that always makes you feel good? I’d love to know!
Thanks so much for reading today!
